Where should I go for my vacation?
If you are traveling alone, the answer to that is very simple. You just go where you want to go and where your money can take you to. But it is not that simple when you are going away with someone else or if you are taking this trip with a group of people. It is not just yourself you have to consider in this case, but the people who are going to come on this trip with you.
Figuring out where to go on a trip with someone or with a group always requires compromise, from the very moment you decide that you should go on a trip. If you are seriously thinking of going on that vacation, you and the people going with you should set some time to sit down and discuss the details of the journey. Talking about it while eating dinner or doing something else is okay, but you are likely to get sidetracked by something else. So it is best to set aside some time to get some planning done.
When you and your travel companions have finally come together to brainstorm about your trip, make sure you agree on all the necessary details. First and foremost of all these details is your budget. The amount of money you are willing to spend for the journey will actually decide for you where you are going, how you will get there, where you are going to stay and how long you will be going away.
Once you have got the issue of money settled, you can go ahead and discuss the other details. First: Decide where you all want to go. Do you want to spend your vacation in another state or in another country? Do you want to go the beach or to the mountains? Are you thinking of exploring the city or getting lost in the countryside? Do you want to stay in a full-service hotel or resort, or just rent a house or a cottage if possible? When you deal with these questions, better have a map or an atlas spread in front of you.
The next thing you will have to agree on is how to get there. If your vacation time is limited, you can fly. But if you can go away for a considerable length of time, a cruise might be lovely. Or if you are just traveling across the state, a road trip might sound fun.
Lastly, make a tentative list of outdoor activities that you want to do while you are on this trip. Do not hesitate to state what you want to do; otherwise, you will end up not enjoying this trip at all. Why waste your time on a trip you are not going to have fun in? In this case, it would be best for you not to go after all.
Going on vacation with someone else or with a group always requires some compromise. But once you have come up with your agreements for the journey, you will definitely find yourself looking forward to going away. After all, the more, the merrier.
