If ever you are to spend an extended holiday in Hawaii, perhaps a week or two, you do not have to worry about being bored. There are so many things to do and so many places to see in Hawaii that at the end of your stay in the islands, you may be surprised to find yourself wanting to extend your holiday even further.
So what can you do during your vacation in Hawaii? Here are just some of the many activities you can engage in and fill your time with on your holiday in the islands.
Beach Activities
Hawaii is a tropical destination with hundreds of beaches gracing its islands, so it does not make sense to avoid the beaches during your stay there. In fact, most people go to Hawaii to enjoy its beaches, and most travel guides have proclaimed the beaches of Hawaii to be the best in the world.
The nice thing about the beaches of Hawaii is that they are all accessible to the public. Even at the resort hotels, you do not have to pay just to be able to go to the beach. Once at the beach, you can do a wide array of activities, whether in the water or on the sand. Beach volleyball is popular in Hawaii, as well as surfing and snorkeling. Here is a word of caution, though: The waters of Hawaii are unpredictable, so you should be extra careful about unforeseen currents and sudden waves.
One activity in Hawaii that is very popular among tourists during the winter months is humpback whale watching. If you feel adventurous enough, you can go diving in deep waters to be able to catch a glimpse of these marvelous giants of the sea. But if you do not feel like getting wet, you can go on a humpback whale cruise.
Hiking
If the beach is not really your thing, do not despair. You can still derive tremendous enjoyment from your Hawaii holiday, especially if you have even the smallest interest in nature. Hiking is a great pastime in Hawaii, and there are miles upon miles of nature trails for those who want to go gadding about in the outdoors.
Most of Hawaii’s islands have areas that cater specifically to those who love hiking. In Maui, there is the Iao Valley State Park, the path around the Haleakala Crater, and the Waikamoi Ridge Trail. In Oahu, there is the Diamond Head and the Manoa Falls. In Kauai, you can head for the Waimea Canyon, the Kokee State Park, the Wailua Falls, the Halemanu-Kokee Trail and Russian Fort Elizabeth.
Other Activities to Enjoy
There are many other activities to engage in while visiting Hawaii other than spending time on the beach or going on a hiking day trip. For golf enthusiasts, Hawaii is known to be a first-class golfer’s haven. There are many, many golf courses in Hawaii that were designed by well-known pros, including Robert Trent Jones Jr., Arnold Palmer and Greg Norman. If you want to see some live PGA action in Hawaii, plan to visit around January or February so you can hobnob with the golfing stars during the PGA events there.
Biking is another passion held by the people of Hawaii. There are bike trails and paths all over the islands, and it is a great way to explore the islands away from the beach. You do not have to fly in your own bike; you can simply rent a bike from a bike shop anywhere you may be staying in Hawaii.
If you are the type who loves getting pampered, book your accommodations at a spa resort and get all the spa treatments that you think you need.
There are so many things you can do on a visit to Hawaii. It is really impossible to get bored on your holiday there.
