Horsethief Canyon located west of the Royal Tyrrell Museum, Drumheller, Alberta.
These rugged canyon offers a spectacular view of the badlands valley and its multi-layered walls. Footpaths lead down to fossilized oyster- beds.
Hiking is a popular activity at the canyon, although it can be easy to get lost because there are no interpretive signs.
It was named Horsethief Canyon because in the early days ranching, it was used by American horse thieves to hide thousand of horses to sell to buyer markets in Alberta.
