Atlanta Best Restaurants

The southern charm exhibited in Atlanta extends to many of its fine eateries along with a delightful helping of southern delicacies. Although your own dietary needs and personal preferences will win out and sway you toward one place or another, the culinary delights from many of these fine establishments will also tempt you with their savory flavors and aromatic scents.

Bacchanalia, a popular California-style restaurant, is located at 1198 Howell Mill Road. It offers excellent service, a unique location within a refurbished warehouse, and new American cuisine. Reservations are highly recommended due to the traffic that visits this engaging establishment featuring a new menu weekly. Unfortunately, it is closed on Sundays and major holidays. A newly established gourmet market greets you in the front and features excellent cheeses, breads, and desserts.

In an intimate setting alongside the Chattahoochee River and featuring lush landscaping at 4199 Paces Ferry Road, Canoe is another of the restaurants offering New American dishes. It features a variety of tempting dishes including grilled duck breast, crab fritters, and a variety of other seafood dishes. Its menu, changing by seasons, features fresh ingredients of a local nature. The restaurant is shaped like a canoe, requires dressy casual attire, offers cocktails, and features special events. Closed on major holidays, Canoe offers brunch, lunch, and dinner.

For fine dining in a “jackets required” setting, visit The Dining Room at the Ritz-Carlton in Buckhead at 3434 Peachtree Road. Not only does it feature legendary world-class standards, but also, an intimate atmosphere for excellent dining. The cuisine features modern French dishes with just a touch of Asian influence such as stuffed guinea hen and lamb loin. A full bar, sophisticated entertainment, outstanding service, and a classy ambience complete the picture for this fine establishment that is open from Tuesdays through Saturdays. It is open most holidays with the exception of December 25.

For another opportunity to enjoy French cuisine with a touch of Mediterranean and Asian influence, visit the Joel located at 3290 Northside Parkway. Although some of the prices tend to be expenses, the daily specials tend to fit into most budgets. The restaurant features a 65-foot lounge bar, excellent service, valet parking, and cocktails. Closed on Sundays and most major holidays, the Joel requires dressy casual attire and reservations are recommended, but not required.

Pano’s & Paul’s, an established restaurant located at 1232 W Paces Ferry Road, features Continental cuisine including such tasty dishes as veal sweetbreads, fried lobster tail, and other seafood dishes. Set in an art deco atmosphere, the restaurant boasts outstanding service, lavish surroundings, valet parking, and cocktails. Unfortunately, it is closed on Sundays and most major holidays. The dress code is dressy casual and reservations are recommended, but not required.

Alon’s Bakery & Market is a great take-out stop featuring sandwiches, breads, cheeses, salads, and European desserts. Located at 1394 N Highland Avenue, this eatery features limited seating with outdoor benches, American cuisine, and onsite parking. Open Sunday through Saturday, the shop is closed on most major holidays.

For a taste of Mexican fare, visit the Nuevo Laredo Cantina, located at 1495 Chattahoochee Avenue. The home style cooking is offered Monday through Saturday. This eatery offers beer, wine, casual dining, and such dishes as chicken mole and tacos.

Diners can enjoy steak, lamb chops, filet mignon, and seafood at Bone’s Restaurant located on 3130 Piedmont Road NE. Although the dress code is casual, private rooms are available.
