Grand Canyon National Park

Grand Canyon National Park offers a breathtaking scenic views and fascinating human history to its visitors. It is more than a great chasm carved over millennia through rocks of the Colorado Plateau.
The Colorado River is the lifeline of the canyon. It lies nearly a vertical mile beneath the South Rim and only visible from certain viewpoints.
The Park has several viewpoints on the rim. The developed South Rim extends from Hermit Rest on the west to Desert View on the east, a distance of about thirty-five miles with elevations from 6,600 feet to 7,500 feet.
