Planning A Caribbean Wedding

By Anna Lynn Sibal

Many engaged couples opt to have their wedding set at an exotic destination, such as the Caribbean islands. A beach wedding or a wedding set with the sea as the backdrop can be very romantic, and the world’s best beaches, after all, can be found on the Caribbean islands. Who would want to pass up an opportunity to be joined in holy matrimony in a place everyone calls paradise?

Planning a Caribbean destination wedding is not that simple, though. For one, the couple would have to consider their budget limitations and if the guests they want to invite may be able to fly to the Caribbean island of their choice for the wedding. And then, they have to deal with the logistics of the event, such as the marriage license and other paperwork, the venue, the food, the activities, et cetera. A Caribbean destination may not be a good idea for a couple that is on a tight budget and wants everyone dear to them present to the wedding.

For those who can afford a Caribbean destination wedding, they will certainly find the planning a little more challenging, if not more stressful, for them. After all, it is going to be a wedding done overseas, where customs are different and the couple would not be totally sure where they can get most out of their wedding budget. However, a little research done beforehand will eliminate some hassles.

One of the first decisions that the couple will have to make if they want a Caribbean destination wedding is to choose just which Caribbean island to go to. In line with that, they ought to check the requirements for holding a wedding in that island, because some islands require a residency of six months before approving an application for a marriage license.

Once the couple has that straightened out, then comes the time to make the necessary bookings and reservations. The couple may choose to schedule their wedding some time between May and November, because these months are off-season for tourists. However, the couple must also bear in mind that these months are part of the hurricane season, so they can either take the risk, schedule the wedding during peak season months, or hold the wedding in an island a little off the storm zone, like Aruba.

For the details of the wedding, the couple would be better off hiring a wedding coordinator or booking a wedding package from a luxury resort in the Caribbean island of their choice. Doing thus will help the couple eliminate some headaches when it comes to arranging certain details of the wedding, especially if they do not really know their way around the island. A wedding coordinator would know where the best services are on the island and she might score the couple a good deal for them for the wedding. As for wedding packages in a luxury resort, they can also spell convenience for the couple, as almost everything would be set and prepared for them by the resort itself.

A wedding in the paradise called the Caribbean is something to dream of. With a little thought and planning, it is a dream that can easily turn into something real.
